In the near future, you might not need a smartwatch anymore to keep track of your health on a daily basis. Instead, your foldable or flippable smartphone will have the capability to handle health measurements. Thanks to our collaboration with David from @xleaks7, we are able to examine the latest patent released by a Korean tech giant.
According to the patent, the display of the foldable smartphone will come with two health sensors, which will use fingerprints to estimate various health parameters based on the measurements taken.
The patent proposes that smartphones will incorporate a special type of image sensor called a CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor and a Hall sensor. This CMOS sensor can emit light onto the user’s finger, while a Hall sensor will measure the angle at which the phone is folded.
By analyzing the captured image of the finger and the degree of folding, a processor will be able to estimate important bio-information about the user, such as blood pressure, vascular age, arterial stiffness, and more.
The estimated results can then be displayed on both the inner and outer screens of the smartphone.
This technology will provide smartphone users with a powerful tool to raise their awareness about their health and help them prevent potential health issues at an early stage.
